The Judge: Embracing the Fierceness of Our God

I saw myself interceding before God's throne and sensed Him calling me to look up at Him. I did so, realizing that I had not been acting as a worthy son who could look His Dad in the face. In that moment I saw His two fiery eyes burning like torches before me, radiating with love. I understood right away that He was communicating to me, “I have two eyes – the eye of justice and the eye of grace – and they both are lit by the fire of one single heart aflame.”

I consider myself a radical grace preacher, in that I preach that sanctification comes by grace through faith alone. I also know though that it is important for the Church to embrace the truth that God is still in the business of releasing judgments. Why do some Christians shy away from this latter message? I believe the answer is twofold. Click here to read more.

Feature Article: Christ, the Coming Conqueror

When most people think of the Kingdom of God, they think of Heaven, salvation, or being in the Church. It is the message of a very real and coming government, in which a literal King will soon take over the nations. The Messiah is about to arrive, and with Him will come both deliverance and war.

Before Christ's first coming, the Jews were expecting their savior to be a warrior that would rise up and fight for their freedom. Instead, Jesus refused to build an army and willingly surrendered His life to those who opposed Him. As a result many of the Israelites rejected Him.

Very soon, Jesus is about to come back as a mighty Man of valor that will set His people free. Yet many will reject Him this time because He is not a pacifist.

The Gospel of the Kingdom which Christ repeatedly referred to while on the earth was not just about change that takes place in one's heart. Nor was it limited to the miracles, the evangelism, and the social outreaches which Christians are doing. His message was something much more radical, which is why it cost Him His life. Jesus was claiming to be the King of the Jews, even if He often did so very humbly.

Moses wrote in Deuteronomy 18:15, “The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. . . Read more here
